Scheduling!

I have found that another part of this whole grown-up thing that I am going to reluctantly conform to is scheduling and using a day planner. In the last three days I have forgotten two appointments as well as several other things that I need to do... like pay the phone bill so it didn't get disconnected... called my house yesterday to hear... do do doooo we're sorry this number... etc. etc.

The only solution that I can come up with is that I should use a day planner or something of the sort to keep myself organized. Here is the problem.... I rarely carry my purse with me so how am I supposed to write stuff down or look at it even if it isn't with me. My fried Holly leaves it on her counter at home and looks at it everyday. I guess I could leave it on my desk.. but again I can't carry my desk around with me. I am pretty sure that if I had one of those trendy pda phones my life would be a bit more organized... or would it? I would probably just leave it at home or in the pocket of the pants I wore the day before!

Anyone have some amazing way for me to make my memory actually work?

I am lost without my wall calendar. That is where I keep everything I need to remember. Then I have little to do lists that I put on small pieces of paper and carry them around with me.

If I knew the answer to that, I would have written three novels by now. Sigh. My very ADD husband swears by his PDA. It really changed his life.

Nikki keepd small spiral notebook in her purse, writes note down, and transfers it to the calendar when she gets home.

I have a big 'ole wall calendar too. . .got it from FlyLady. . .big squares--lots 'o lines. . .if you write it down somewhere you are more likely to remember it. Just pick ONE place to write it down so you aren't awash in little bits of paper or post-its. I keep mine on the wall by the phone.

If you have Microsoft Outlook on your computer where you read email, they have a calendar. Every morning when I turn on the computer and check email, whatever is on the calendar for that day will come up as a reminder. It will also show things coming up over the next few days. It's easy to use. I use a wall calendar too and I keep a little notebook in my car where I write something down at a stoplight when I think of something I don't want to forget.

I sympathize. Listen up about the bills. GO RIGHT NOW to sign up for online bill pay somewhere. (try mycheckfree.com) Mine comes free with my accounts (First Financial). It used to cost me $7/month, but it is WORTH that to not have to pay late fees, re-connect, etc. You can schedule when you are paying your bills, how much, and make them repeating if necessary. We had ALL of our bills automatically paid on the first of September, the same day Troy's automatic deposit goes through. And I never had to write a check, lick a stamp, NOTHING! Put technology to work for you, friend!

Well, I can't help you. Since I have no life...I need no planner:) I do have one though, just for doc appts. Then come the month, I know I have something planned,so I flip through that month and search for it.
