Church Exchange

One of the things that the Baptist church has tried to do (at least in our town) in order to cross the racial divide that happens within churches, is create partnerships between black and white churches in town. Our partner church is Holiday Hills... and tonight was the night where they came over to our church to lead the service. Let me just say that those wonderful people put every single person I know to shame when it comes to worship. When the choir sang (all four of them) they had more enthusiasm and sound than all 30 of our choir members put together... they lifted their voices in praise that made me a tad envious... oh to have that power. When the preacher preached... WOW... what energy... and what a message. My oldest asked why the preacher sang while he preached... I'm guessing that she's never heard a preacher with such vocal intonations. When the choir sang, she asked why people were dancing in the choir loft. After the service, I told my music minister that I think I'm in the wrong church... his wife agreed with me... our preacher better be careful... he's gonna have a whole section of people deserting our church to head to our partner church...

I know exactly what you mean! Way back when in the church we went to before the one we are at now...(which I am head over heels about! hehe)...we had a group of people from a black church come over & do a bible study one week. It was SO amazing. The enthusiasm was humbling...I enjoyed every minute of it. Maybe this experience can bring some "life" back into your church...and give everyone a breath of fresh air!

At the church I grew up in there was this one black guy that lead singing and preached. He was sooo great. I'll never forget the energy he had.

When we lived in East Texas, the church we attended tried doing an exchange. I think the old ladies just about died when they saw choir members (gasp) dancing on the platform. I don't think they tried it again.
